on wednesdays we wear army print

Talulah top| Sass & Bide jeans | Nude Lucy blazer | Sass & Bide bag

There is no problem in the world (of fashion) that can't be solved with some army print. Not to be confused
with the actual army, Marvin Gaye has already taught us that war is not the answer and that love
should conquer. So, if love can save Harry Potter on numerous occasions, then surely my love for the army
print can save many an outfit.

The army print is a man of little words and only the important words. So, essentially its the
Mr Darcy of the prints. It's that elusive print that will somehow balance out that girly silk & crocheted
top you're wearing. It's that subtle print that won't try and upstage your brightly beaded clutch.
It's that print that will offer support and camouflage should you need it.

There are many reasons to wear army print, but mostly because...

on Wednesdays, we wear army print.

comfort bubble

T by Alexander Wang tank (on sale here)| Rag & Bone 'portobello' leather shorts (seen here & here| Senso 'Britney I' boots | Asos denim jacket (similar hereJennifer Zeuner necklaces

I think it's always important to push yourself outside of your comfort zone, both sartorially and in life generally (because
apparently at the wise old age of 22, I feel ancient enough to give such sage and learned advice- you can choose to not listen
but that will be at your own detriment). I joke , of course- about the ancient part not the comfort bubble part. For the
longest time, I was always scared to wear bright colours and to be honest, it's a fear that hasn't truly left me. I've long come
to terms with the fact that I will never be as comfortable in a bright red or a bright yellow as I will be in my greys,
whites and blacks. If I want colour in my outfit, it's usually done through accessories or shades that aren't as bright
as my top here. But once in a while, it's nice to challenge that preconceived notion, even if its self-imposed; and when
I do, I always match it with clothes that I'm comfortable in i.e. these Rag & Bone leather shorts.

there she goes

Stylestalker 'there she goes' playsuit | Chloe sunglasses & 'paraty' bag | Senso 'bertina' boots | Jennifer Zeuner necklace

Quite possibly, the best thing you can do for yourself this summer is to buy a playsuit or dig one out from your wardrobe.
It's the perfect thing to wear on days where you just don't feel like wearing anything i.e. every summer day. This playsuit
from Stylestalker is the perfect amount of light summery colours, funky draping & detailing and incredible comfort.
I bought it last year and I've been getting plenty of wear out of it- it's also perfect in autumn with a thin jacket layered
over it (see here). I told you that it was versatile.

summer leathers

Bassike tank dress | Saba leather jacket | Topshop heels | Zara clutch | Karen Walker 'deep freeze' sunglasses | Juicy Couture necklace | Dannijo bracelet | low luv bangle | vintage belt

I'm not sure if this holds true for anyone else, but I find myself needing to layer after a few consecutive days of
authentic summer weather. Of course I don't mean layering in temperatures where its only appropriate to play a game
of "what's the least amount of clothes I can wear without being called out for public indecency", however the minute
the temperature drops to anything in the vicinity of anywhere below 30s- I have either my leather or denim
jacket ready and prepped to go. This explains why, during the Australian heat waves, I'm wearing my leather
jacket- there was a rare day of rest from the sweltering heat and I embraced it.

dope ass kicks

Bassike tee (sale here| Aje 'catara' skirt | Giuseppe Zanotti sneakers (similar here & here| Juicy Couture necklace | Saint Laurent 'belle du jour' clutch (similar here) | Chloe sunglasses

No joke, I got so many compliments on my 'kicks' that day (rather than my newly cut short hair) that I ended up with
the biggest head. By the end of the day, I was ready to move to LA and hang with the best (i.e. Song of Style).

It's now the third day since cutting my hair and admittedly, I did suffer slight buyers remorse this morning but I'm glad
to say that my haircut and I have overcome our three day itch and all is happy in the kingdom. After all, what can I do?
I can hardly go back and demand that my longer locks be re-attached.

I can't wait to go back this Saturday and get some colour put in (or take out?)
My haircut meant that all my coloured tips are now gone and I haven't had black hair since early high school, which
sadly is a very long time ago. I wanted to embrace the black locks but due to the sheer amount of hair I have, it's
way too overwhelming for the summer heat.

new year, new hair.

I finally did it and cut off my long hair, and about time too.
This is probably the shortest that I'll ever be able to cut my hair but to me, I feel like it's a pixie cut already.
My hair grows ridiculously fast so I wasn't particular anxious about cutting it, more like excited ever since
I made my appointment. I love the way my hair stylist put in loose curls, I hope I can recreate the look myself
otherwise I'm really going to learn how to style short(er) hair. Any tips?

lover in red

Witchery silk shirt | Lover 'mystical' shorts | Zara clutch | Giuseppe Zanotti for Thakoon boots | Sunday Somewhere sunglasses

I really wish I was able to take a few more photos before my camera battery died on me, but that's what I get for not always
being prepared (thank god I never actually joined the boy scouts!). This white silk shirt which I picked up from Witchery is
absolutely fantastic, the sleeves end halfway down my hand with a slight billowing effect which makes me feel like
a Romantic Poet (except without Lord Byron's rock star appeal). We all know my love for the Lover mystical shorts
(on sale here) and I will use any excuse to wear these amazing velvet boots, even if its the middle of summer
and the fact I don't really have an excuse.

monochrome blossoms

shakuhachi top (similar here| one teaspoon denim shorts | sass & bide clutch (similar here| karen walker 'deep freeze' sunglasses

The one fashion rule that my mum ever tried to teach me was the quintessential fashion equation of how to determine how
much skin is too much skin; if you're going to show your legs then hide yourself on top and if you're going to show off
your cleavage then hide yo legs. But given that it's summer where anything more than a thin layer of silk is too much- unless
you're at the beach (see here). I'm so thankful for this Shakuhachi silk tank for its high neckline which acts as the perfect
amount of balance to the denim shorts.

capital m

After seeing these photos on Studded Hearts, I couldn't help but repost them.
Miranda Kerr is probably one of my favourite models of all time, perhaps slight jingoism
comes into play, but mostly because her "off-duty" looks are always so spot-on.
She has the uncanny ability of being able to take the hottest trends and work them into
a casual and very wearable outfit. She's always fun to look at when you need a hit of inspiration.
Perhaps its the ease in which she wears her outfits or those dimples and always polished hair
but honestly, it's most likely a combination of all of the above plus that super cute kid of hers.
